Celebrating Easter at the Viceroy Zihuatanejo

During Holy Week, when the streets of Zihuatanejo, Mexico erupt with Easter pageantry and processions, Viceroy Zihuatanejo will celebrate with a gourmet menu served on Easter Saturday, a lavish breakfast buffet on Easter Sunday, enhanced beach amenities, a Kids Concierge, petting zoo and egg hunt. But there are lots more reasons why this boutique-sized luxury resort is ideal for a beach escape any time of the year.

In addition to its prime location on beautiful Playa Ropa beach on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, the two-story suites and guest rooms feature an adobe-inspired design by innovative architect Enrique Zozaya as well as plunge pools, beach hammocks and a waterfall swimming pool. The beach is also one of the most swimmable on the Pacific Coast and has clean water, soft white sand and gentle waves.

While researching the local food scene in Zihuatanejo, I was lucky enough to be invited to spend three nights at the Viceroy Zihuatanejo and I loved it so much I’d recommend it without hesitation for families, couples and solo travellers as well as food fans. The culinary experience at Viceroy Zihuatanejo is ramping up even more with the recent arrival of Chef Jorge Ildefonso, who comes to Viceroy Zihuatanejo from the Viceroy Riviera Maya on the Mexican Caribbean, where he was Executive Chef. He’ll be launching a new ‘Sea-to-Table’ dining experience featuring ultra-fresh Pacific Coast seafood  as well as the brand-new Marea Sushi & Ceviche, the first sushi and ceviche bar in the resort destination of Zihuatanejo.

Tip: You can save 10% on your stay at the Viceroy  (and enjoy a free tequila tasting!) if you sign up for their free newsletter.

Looks like a beautiful resort. Mexico’s Pacific Coast is rarely explored but its one of my favourites.

Thx for the great post, Michele. Our very 1st visit to MX was to Ixtapa. Many years ago. I remember being in Zihuatanejo to shop around. But there was nothing as lovely as the Viceroy at that time! It was just a little fishing village back then.

Wonderful place! It is 5 days until Easter 2017. Now it is too late to buy my ticket to Mexico, but the hotel is going to be on my list for Easter 2018!

Easter at Viceroy Zihuatanejo sounds lovely. That chain is special. Spending Easter at almost any upscale resort is a great idea, especially with kids, because most do seem to do egg hunts and bring in some baby animals. What fun!
