TAR Airlines Expands Flights to Beach Destinations in Mexico
If you’re headed to Mexico and can’t decide whether you should spend your time soaking up the culture in one of its fascinating cities or lounging on the beaches of Huatulco or Puerto Escondido, your dilemma is over. Now you can do both.
TAR Airlines has expanded its routes, which means it’s now even easier (and cheaper) to combine beach time with city time. For fans of Oaxaca’s string of Pacific coast beaches, there’s especially good news.
In addition to its existing direct flights between Querétaro and Huatulco (Oaxaca), TAR Airlines has launched direct flights from Querétaro to Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca (PXM) beginning June 18, 2018.
Due to continued growth in its business routes, TAR has also launched direct flights to other destinations, such as Veracruz (in the state of Veracruz) and Merida ( Yucatan) along with Puerto Escondido (Oaxaca) effective June 18, 2018.

Puerto Escondido – Querétaro Connections
Why visit Querétaro? Vogue magazine recently proclaimed Querétaro, the “New San Miguel de Allende” due to its atmospheric historic centre (a designated UNESCO World Heritage site), leafy plazas, colonial architecture and burgeoning arts scene. It also features beautiful natural landscapes, including protected forests home to monarch butterflies and the Sierra Gorda biosphere reserve, known for its hiking, swimming and rafting.
The flights from Querétaro to Puerto Escondido Oaxaca will be of interest to expats as well as locals looking for easy connections to beach destinations in Mexico.

Low Cost of a Flight on TAR Airlines – $60 USD (inc tax)
TAR Airlines Schedule: Flights between Querétaro-Puerto Escondido-Querétaro take place twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This makes TAR Airlines a great option for a 3-day getaway.
A recent online search shows a one-way cost of $1199 MXN ( or $60 USD) for a Promo category flight. Prices rise steeply for other flight categories.
Unlike VivaAerobus where a multitude of extras can increase the price if you’re not vigilant about deselecting them when making a reservation, on TAR Airlines the cost of $1199.01 includes all taxes, extras. It also includes the cost of a reserved seat.
Departure Times: The flights from PXM to Querétaro depart around midnight (22:05), which isn’t the most convenient for everyone. From Querétaro to Puerto Escondido, flights depart at 20:15.
Flying Time: One hour and 26 Minutes
TAR Airlines Mexico Fleet
Who is TAR Airlines? They are a 100% Mexican, regional low-cost airline operating a fleet of Embraer 145 ERJ, twin-engine jets produced by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. TAR Airlines currently has 10 airlines in their fleet. Each plane holds 50-passengers.
Based in Querétaro, Mexico, they launched service on March 3, 2014 to Guadalajara and quickly expanded to more destinations throughout Mexico, including Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Zihuatanejo and more. They currently fly to 24 destinations in Mexico.
Combining beach time with city time, used to mean you’d have to spend a fortune on a pricey flight via Mexico City or endure 20+ hours on one of the buses travelling the winding mountainous highways. No more. Now with Tar Airlines’ new connections to Puerto Escondido from Querétaro you can easily do both.
