We often rent a car in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Liability insurance is mandatory and can be very expensive if you book when you arrive. The cost SkyScfor insurance has always been much lower (up to 70%) through Discover Cars.

Chris Myden YYZ Deals
If you can use Toronto (YYZ) as your gateway then it’s well worth signing up for the email alerts from Chris Myden.
He scours the internet to find the best deals and sends these flight offers (Air Canada, WestJet, Canada Jetlines and others) off in emails and on the YYZ Deals Facebook page.
I’ve seen low cost (under $400 CAD roundtrip including tax) to Curaçao, Tulum and Puerto Rico. But you have to act fast as these flight sell out fast.
There are often deals from other Canadian cities too.
